Cool places with cool magazines

Some of the most inspiring independent bookstores and editorial spaces across Italy.

Where Can we find cool Places with cool magazines?

We at Studio Fibra, as you know, dedicate much passion to publishing and independent magazines. For this reason, we asked ourselves: what are the places in Italy that offer the best opportunity to access this niche material?

We have therefore selected a targeted list of newsstands, creative spaces, bookshops, and small studios in some of the main Italian cities where you can browse cult magazines or come into contact with the editorial practices that characterize them.

Our list is not intended to be exhaustive, but it intentionally covers spaces in their complete diversity. You will find both well-known historical realities, such as the Fashion Library of Milan, and small, experimental, and unconventional realities, which do not strictly fall under the conventional title of "bookshop," such as Edicola 518 or various emerging graphic design studios. We are convinced that all these places, collectively, are essential reference points for those who, like us, love and support independent publishing.

Milan

Milan has the highest concentration, with a strong focus on fashion, design, and international magazines:

  • Frab's: The main Italian hub for niche and collectible magazines (over 900 titles).

  • Reading Room: Historical space in Corvetto, specialized in international magazines (art, photography, design).

  • Libreria Verso: General bookshop with a dedicated shelf for independent periodical publishing (over 100 titles).

  • Edicola Largo Treves: Historic newsstand in Brera, now renovated with an exclusive focus on international creative magazines (art, fashion, architecture, design).

  • Milano Fashion Library: Specialized library with over 70,000 fashion publications (registration required).

  • 10 Corso Como: Cultural space and concept store that hosts a selection of cult books and magazines.

Venice

  • Bruno: Graphic design studio that also functions as a specialized bookshop focusing on visual communication and international independent publishing.

  • Edicola dei Visionari: New newsstand opened in San Polo (Venice).

 Perugia

  • Edicola 518: The "rebel kiosk for lovers of fine paper." It offers a unique selection of independent magazines, fanzines, and self-productions from Emergenze Publishing.

Bologna

  • Titivil: A multidisciplinary space that functions as a Gallery | Zine | Bookshop | Risograph | Screenprinting. (Highly relevant for production).

Production Studios

Rome

Rome hosts a vibrant ecosystem, with spaces that combine print with design and art:

  • Leporello: Stands out as a bookshop specializing in Art, Photography, Design, and Graphics, making it perfect for visual and design products like your planners.

  • Tomo Libreria Caffè: A central reference point for independent publishing and self-production, with the added value of hosting events and presentations.

Turin

Turin offers a mix of historical institutions and more modern spaces dedicated to books:

  • Libreria Comunardi: An institution known for its wide selection of independent publishing.

  • Libreria Bodoni/Spazio B: Combines a focus on children's books with a section of international magazines, Art, Design, and Photography.

  • L'ibrida Bottega: Presents itself as a welcoming environment for lovers of paper, offering independent editions.

  • Libreria Fuori dal Tempo: Offers a selection of magazines and objects from the past, with a less conventional approach.

Naples

  • Libreria Dante e Descartes: Configures itself as an independent bookshop with a curated selection of niche titles.

Florence

Florence combines a passion for books with convivial spaces (cafés/wine bars):

  • Todo Modo: A Bookshop-Enoteca (wine bar) that pairs books with a curated selection of magazines, perfect for a design product.

  • Brac: A bookshop with a restaurant known for being a cultural reference point and for events related to publishing.

  • Libreria La Cité: An independent bookshop that also hosts a restaurant and wine bar, with a vast selection of volumes, including those in the original language.

  • Libreria Mucho Mojo: Offers a selection of new and used books, with a less specialized approach.

Our survey, although partial, confirms an interesting fact: Italy possesses a dynamic, underground creative fabric that extends far beyond major publishing houses.

Publishing is not just a product, but a living practice that unites craftsmanship with storytelling. We hope this list is not just a map, but an invitation to actively support and frequent these spaces and the independent voices they represent.

Supporting these realities means investing in the diversity and quality of Italian visual and narrative culture.
